WHO WE ARE

Since J M Johns founded the firm approximately 60 years ago, we have provided professional legal advice and assistance to families and businesses alike.

Today, we are a progressive practise offering a full range of legal services.

THE PRINCIPAL 

James Frankton trained with the firm and has progressed from Assistant Solicitor to Principal.  He qualified in 1977 and his areas of expertise are property, Wills and trusts and Probate and the administration of estates.

THE STAFF 

Helena Finch is Mr Frankton’s Secretary and has been with the firm since 1993.  Helena works in Reception with Fiona answering calls, meeting Clients and dealing with enquiries.

Fiona Orland works for both Mr Frankton and Theresa.  Fiona has over ten years previous legal experience and very much enjoys working in a legal environment.

Theresa Hatton is a Barrister and specialises in disputed cases involving families, individuals and businesses.

OUR AIM

We are committed to providing individuals and businesses with a high quality service at a competitive price.  For us, Client satisfaction is the key.   It is no wonder then that the vast majority of our Clients (85% during the period November 2004-October 2005) have either used us before or have been recommended by someone who has.  A further 5% were referred to us by fellow professionals.

It is not necessarily our range of services that is different, rather how they are delivered.  Benefits include:

  • All work is handled by Practising Lawyers, and not by an unqualified person or supervised Clerk.

  • We are readily accessible in that we prefer to explain and discuss important and complex legal documents face to face, rather than try to do so either over the telephone or in correspondence.  Sometimes, there is just no substitute for personal contact.

  • Wherever possible, we take advantage of modern technology to supplement (but not replace) our personal approach and improve efficiency.  Examples include the use of case management systems, on-line case tracking, SMS updates, e-mails, computer based forms, voice recognition, digital dictation and computerised desk-top accounting.  We also have direct broadband internet access to our bank, the Land Registry and many other information providers.
  • We not only follow The Law Society’s Client’s Charter, but also:
    • Carry out as much work as possible on a fixed fee basis to help you budget and avoid any uncertainty.
    • Have additional minimum standards.  For example, we will respond to telephone calls and voice messages the same day and other forms of communication within two working days.
  • We are founder members of the Warwickshire Consumer Support Network.
  • We offer Legal Advice Clinics to local businesses.

Of course, quality comes at a price and our fees must necessarily reflect that.  However, we do try to keep our charging structure competitive without striving to be the cheapest.  PLEASE NOTE THAT WE DO NOT HANDLE LEGAL AID CASES.
